about

We call our band DRIFT because we feel our music is free flowing and it moves us. We like to believe our music evokes high spirits and a sense of freedom. We hope listeners can let go of their troubles and be carried by the love we put into our music.

Our music features improvisation in the classical style. We only record in full takes, no splicing, to preserve the integrity of the energy we put into our performance.

Anthony and I performed at the retirement home, Mary Manning Walsh (in Manhattan) in April, 2015. Anthony played a few solo piano pieces he had written, and I played Bach’s third unaccompanied cello suite (in C major). The residents were very friendly and supportive, and after our performance they requested an encore. We had nothing prepared, and so they asked us to improvise together. We had never played together, and I had never improvised on the cello, but we went with it, thanks to the audience’s support, and the results were inspiring. So we decided to get together weekly and play, compose, and record.
